Happy New Year my lovies and Thank you for still being here with me even after I hardly gave you new content in 2020. I think we can all agree that it was a strange year. I can go on about all the things you’ve heard and seen before about 2020 but this piece is about us looking forward to 2021, and we’re all wondering, will 2021 really be better than 2020?
Bad news folks, the prognosis may not be what you want to hear.
With a new strain of the coronavirus found recently 2021 will be *dum dum dum* drumroll please…EXACTLY WHAT YOU MAKE IT.
Don’t get on my case about you didn’t do anything to deserve 2020 and the pandemic. I know.
What I mean is, do you remember that amazing quote “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Well it’s fact.
2020 was a strange year but it was a year that forced us to adapt where we can, and forced us to rest where we probably needed it. Many lost jobs but found their family, some lost family and had to find inner strength to come to terms with mortality.
Many things happened to us, but many of us rose to the occasion. Many of us feel like we didn’t accomplish anything but we understand ourselves more now; we know we need people or that we don’t respond well to adversity. Many of us could NOT have handled things any better because circumstances were what they were, and whether or not you dealt with loneliness or job loss, I’m pretty sure we all dealt with some boredom.
So what does this have to do with 2021?
Well the reality is, every year and in truth, every day, we get some choice in what it turns out to be just by how we react to the things that happen.
More than that, we grow every day, we change, we evolve, we are never the same. Our mindset changes daily as we experience different situations and so as time passes how we respond to things changes.
Do you know how many lost their jobs and struggled to feed themselves and their family yet even dealing with that stress showed their family an enduring love? That to me is a win. It may not have been the win they wanted but if you can hold onto some of those wins then mayne you won’t see the year as quite so bad.
So will 2021 be better than 2020? It completely depends on you. Did you grow? Are you optimistic? Do you adapt well? Are you open to opportunities? Do you respond well to challenges?
Every year has challenges and every year has opportunities. How you are able to respond to them and what your outlook on life is like is what will determine if you have a good/better year.
So get out there, do your best and hope for the best.
